If you are tired of skiing or other winter fun while staying in Harrachov, we recommend an interesting visit to the underground in this mountain resort. It is an exhibition and guided tours at Harrachov mining museum. It was formerly ore mine (active in 1957 - 1992), mainly fluorite, barite, quartz and galena was mined there. Preserve floor (now guided gallery) is approximately one kilometer long and a year-round temperature is 7-10 ° C. Guided tour takes less than an hour and and you will get familiar with the tools, equipment and work of former miners. The museum also has an eye-catching exhibition of the history of Harrachov and Czech mining, including exhibitions rich with ore minerals mined not only in Harrachov.
Mining Museum is located on the eastern edge of Harrachov, near the central bus station and car park. Along leads the way to a nearby Mumlava waterfall.
Opening days in the period from 01/06 to 18/03 2015 are Tuesday and Wednesday. Guided gallery tours are possible at 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, and 15:30 in groups of at least 4 to a maximum of 25 persons (children are allowed in the gallery from 4 years of age accompanied by an adult).
